For Missionaries

We understand the uncertainty surrounding your home during extended absences. You have found a great place to live in a "high-demand" housing area near your ministry, but are concerned about leaving the house empty for an extended period. The cost of rent and utilities for the months away also weighs heavily on your minds. If you rent and leave your property vacant, your landlord may want to use your absence as a basis to cancel your lease.

Oikonomos Stewards help address these concerns. We provide trustworthy Stewards (house sitters) to calm the concerns of landlords. Our stewards share the cost (negotiated in advance) of keeping your house or apartment while you are away. They live in the unit and are required to engage with the local church. They are vetted and trained based on the unique requirements of your area and your home.

Lead-time: For best results, Oikonomos International would like to receive requests 12 months prior to need. This allows time for identifying Stewards, planning and conducting training, and organizing travel. We can, if necessary, respond to shorter leadtimes, but that reduces our flexibility and our ability to support your needs.

Through the application, you tell us what you need and when you need it. Tell us about your home, your community, and your church. We will use this information to select and prepare the Stewards to live in the local community of your city.

Please note, Oikonomos International is NOT a Security Service. If you live in a high-risk / high threat area, where your primary concern is "property protection" and not the risk of losing access to the housing altogether, we will not be able to provide Stewards.

For those rare missionaries who actually own their homes, we will address requests on a case-by-case basis.

The Missionary Application is a lengthy document that will be used in planning and organizing Steward Support.

For security reasons, we seek to protect sensitive information. For this reason, we are shifting to an on-line application process.

Due to software limitations, this must be done in a single sitting. Before beginning, please collect the following information:

Names and aliases
Contact information (phone, mailing address, email)
Emergency contact information (name, address, e-mail, phone)
Mission Agency information (names, address, phone, email, team lead)
Communication / security constraints and sensitivities
Need dates (tentative or firm)
Property details (see form)
Current cost estimates
Neighborhood description
Church information

One suggestion would be to download the form (which is still available below) and fill in the information, then transfer it to the on-line application. We understand that this is an additional step, but we want to ensure that your sensitive information is protected. PLEASE BE ADVISED: If the on-line form is closed before being submitted, all entered data will be lost.
